NL: Former Serb Leader Milosevic Found Dead In Prison
Milosevic 'found dead in prison'
BBC NEWS
Saturday, 11 March 2006, 12:26 GMT
Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has died in The Hague, radio reports and his lawyer says.
Steven Kay, Mr Milosevic's lawyer, told BBC News 24 that he had been found dead in his cell on Saturday morning.
Mr Milosevic, 64, has been on trial at the UN war crimes tribunal for genocide and other war crimes.
The tribunal last month rejected a request by Mr Milosevic to go to Russia for medical treatment. He had high blood pressure and a heart condition.

A Serbian doctor will attend the autopsy of Slobodan Milosevic in the Netherlands on Sunday as his family blames his death on The Hague tribunal.

Re: NL: Former Serb Leader Milosevic Found Dead In Prison
In life, he was an indicted war criminal. In death, he risks becoming a martyr.
By passing away in his cell at a UN prison near The Hague, Slobodan Milosevic has done more than just frustrate the prosecutors who spent four years trying to have him convicted of genocide and other crimes against humanity.
He has turned the tables on them one last time so that even his death seems like an act of defiance. He always claimed that Serbs were historical victims; now his supporters can claim that he too was a victim of history.
