COALITION FORCES CAPTURE SADDAM HUSSEIN AT ALDAWR
Late yesterday night in the Iraqi community of AlDawr, 25 km from his hometown Tikrit, Coalition forces captured Saddam Hussein and now have him in custody, checking his health and cleaning him and shaving him a bit. How Hussein Was Captured

President Bush has refused to set a timeline to surrender Saddam Hussein to the new Iraqi government unless he is certain that security will be adequate enough for the transfer.

Saddam Hussein has appeared before a judge in Baghdad after being transferred to Iraqi legal custody.

Saddam Hussein, as defiant as ever, appeared in a Baghdad court Thursday but rejected war crimes and genocide charges against him.

The US is holding an inquiry into how photos of a half-naked Saddam Hussein were leaked to a British newspaper, which now printed more pictures of him.

Saddam Hussein could face up to 500 charges, but he will be tried on only 12 "thoroughly documented" counts because prosecuting him on all would be a "waste of time," the prime minister's spokesman said Sunday.

The Iraqi tribunal that is prosecuting the former Iraq leader has allowed his lawyer to attend an interrogation session for the first time, the head of Saddam Hussein's legal team said on Friday.
