Re: Harper Slammed For Noncooperation With Ethics Commissioner
The ethics commissioner's investigation into David Emerson's defection to the Conservative party should be widened to include the floor-crossing of Belinda Stronach to the Liberals last year, the NDP says.

Re: Harper Slammed For Noncooperation With Ethics Commissioner
The Conservative government is willing to allow a free vote on any potential law to block floor-crossing by parliamentarians, says a Tory MP.
The NDP wants to introduce such a bill this upcoming session, even though the federal ethics watchdog has cleared Prime Minister Stephen Harper of any wrongdoing for wooing former Liberal David Emerson to his cabinet shortly after the federal election.
Ethics commissioner Bernard Shapiro also ruled that Emerson was within his constitutional rights when he crossed the floor to join the Conservatives, although he was elected on Jan. 23 as a Liberal in the B.C. riding of Vancouver-Kingsway.
